10U Champions

The East Fishkill 10U Unicorns completed an improbable championship run on 10/16-10/17 winning the first annual Shrub Oak invitation tournament.  Five teams competed over two days playing three games on Saturday and two games on Sunday.  After losing the first two games 8-5 to Mahopac and 11-2 to Carmel, EF’s bats woke up in game three beating a tough Shrub Oak team 5-1 to earn the #3 seed (and a good night’s sleep) going into Sunday’s single elimination.  Sunday started with a 10-5 win against Carmel in the semi-finals.  This was followed up by a 9-2 victory in the championship game against a tough Mahopac team who was previously 12-0 during all-stars.

The team consisted of: Sheeran Stefano, Lindsay McDonough, Molly Veach, Lyla Dwyer, Maddison Schmidt, Julianna Farmer, Lexi Placentino, Jordan McDonald, Emma Barton, Kaelan Lomas, Kiera Kilkenny, Alyssa Callahan, Shaylee Mittan

We thank all the coaches, Kyle Dwyer (Manager),  Lori Placentino, Tim McDonough and  Rose Mittan and all the parents for making this happen… The girls progress as softball players and as youths has been so fulfilling to see during the season.  I hope all the girls continue with softball and any other sport or activity brings them joy.

EFGSL 2017 Scholarship Winners

East Fishkill Girls Softball would like to congratulate this year’s winners of the Softball Scholarship award, Britney Guzman, Elizabeth McCarthy and Laurie Konzelmann.  All 3 wrote compelling essays on what being part of EFGSL has meant to them and their growth as a person.  Each winner will receive a $300 scholarship to be used for their up-coming year in college.  We congratulate them and wish them the best in the future and will miss seeing them on the playing field.

While much work has been done with this new site, much more work is needed. EFGSL would ask everyone for their input. After reviewing the site, please forward any comment to efgslmaster@gmail.com and we will try and incorporate as many great ideas onto the site. Remember, this is a work in progress so only positive suggestions. Look forward to hearing from you.

Meetings are generally held the first Thursday of every month. In the Winter months they are held at the Community Center in Hopewell Junction.  The public is always invited to attend meetings. The EFGSL are always looking for volunteers. If interested please drop by.
